LipFusion and
by jennifer (jenn_xx)
at February 9th, 2006 (10:49 am)

The latest offering from Lipfusion is called XL and it's two times the plumping action for your lips! It costs all of $50. It can be used at nighttime as a mask for your lips. Of all the lip plumpers I have tried, this one really does show instant results. So does Too Faced's newest improvement of Lip Injection. My lips became Angelina Jolie-like in seconds.

Now let me set something straight. I don't fancy the lip plumpers. I don't want bigger, poutier, sexier lips. But if it is your bag, them buy those. But if you want something that smells good and tastes good and gives a very good gloss, then try Pout's for $24. It comes in plastic-wasting inflatable package, which is kind of cute, and it does taste good. It is my favorite of all the plumpers.

Lipfusion has announced that it will now be making foundations. Because plumping up people's lips was just not enough.

Sephora has now launched Cosmedicine. It is a very huge deal. Skincare abounds with topical application of all things good. A fuller report to be launched at a later date.

http://www.MalinandGoetz.com has the most emollient, yummy-tasting, moisturizing lip balm on the planet. For $12, it is a virtual steal. It comes in a little white tube. It's quite innocuous but the wonders it can do for chapped lips! Your pout will be 100 % more kisssable in minutes.

If you dare, you can also look into the other darling concoctions created by this smart, stylish, hip power duo. The concept is the best organics blended with technology, according to Malin. The relatively new line is a blend of the standard apothecary old-world meets forward-thinking technology and is geared toward youth and upwards to any age. In fact, yesterday I dappled the cranium of a 40's something gent who desperately needed sunscreen with the SPF 30 Moisturizer to combat his chrome-dome reflective capabilties and to prevent aging.

The heavy-hitters are as follows: Face Cleanser, Moisturizer, Lip Balm. Only the most discerning consumer knows these products to be the number one choice, of course Anthony Logistics, as I mentioned yesterday is great for men, but Malin + Goetz does not discriminate genders.

The line is affordable, non-snooty, simple and effective. The peppermint body scrub is non-irritating. The hair conditioner is gentle and non-offensive and does the job succintly. I hear they have fragrance but I've yet to waft their glories.

Visit their sleek-lined boutique on 7th avenue between 20th and 21st street. Malin + Goetz, 212-727-3777.

I am here using the Red Clay Mask that helps rid your skin of nasty toxins. It was quite a religious experience.

Their algae cleansing gel smells fabulous and does wonders for keeping your skin fresh and sexy.

A portion of the product's proceeds goes to help find a cure for Prostrate Cancer, so it is a gift that you can give that also gives to others.

The Anthony Essentials Kit for $40 is a great treat complete with a bar of soap, eye gel, Glycolic Cleanser, and many other wonderful treats and comes in a round plastic jar.

The Shave Set $50 is very very good. If you use the Pre-Shave Oil three minutes before shaving it will help the hairs stand up on your face and allow the pores to open up for a closer shave.

The Shave Cream is fab and I believe it also comes with a moisturizer.

If you use an electric shaver, there is also a pre-shave potion that helps to prep your skin for the razor as well.

There are so many wonderful things about this line, I could go on and on.
They have body cleansers in citrus and eucalyptus.

Their oil-free moisturizer has SPF 15 and is yummy. Buy some Anthony Logistics Today!!! If you purchase $75 or more on
http://www.sephora.com you will get free shipping and your gift will arrive just in time.

if you live in a city with a SEPHORA, and you are my friend, email me at jenschroeder@hotmail.com and i'll mail you a postcard to shop at Sephora for 20 percent off until December Fourth.
ACT FAST. NO DELAY.

the best things to buy are:

Becca Foundation Brush, $38. I'm obsessed with the colours of the hairs in this synthetic brush. I could stare at them forever. Light Purples, Blues, Oh MY! and I love the idea of a brush for liquid foundation. Doesn't get your hands all dirty and keeps the oils from your hands off of your face which prevents ACNE.

Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil, $25. Just dab around your face and you have instant mood lighting on your face. Gives your face that "just glazed" look. It's like adding SOFT FOCUS to your skin.

Sephora Herbal Cuticle Oil Pen, $12. Need I say More? i'm a victim of cuticle demolition.

Sake Eau De Parfum by FRESH, $50 for the small bottle, $75 for the big bottle. The BEST FRAGRANCE on the PlANET. HANDS DOWN!!!!

Sephora Mini-Travel Brush Set, $15. It's blue and its cute. You must own it. Lip brush, eye brushes, blush and powder brush.

DuWop Hand to Hair Lotion, $24?, Smells good works on both hands and hair for quick styling.

Ojon Shampoo and conditioner, $22, simply the Best-smelling shampoo and conditioner that will make your hair the softest it's ever been. It's made with Palm Nut Oil that ONLY WoMEN are allowed to pick up off the ground in some remote third world country. I can rock with that concept!

Stila Smudge Pots, $16ish, Gel eyeliner to be applied with a thin liner brush, HOT EYES in SEConds. Simply sweep it on your lid/lash line and your set. Available in black, brown, navy, dark purple, etc.

I LOVE STILA!!!

Living with a Positive Body image
by jennifer (jenn_xx)
at November 29th, 2005 (11:18 am)

for all my LJ friends far and wide:

"There's a direct connection between your self-esteem and your body image. The better your self-esteem, the better you'll feel about what is happenng to yoru body as you journey through life.

Pressure on women to look a certain way can lead to a sense of failure and even depression. Many fashion models weigh 23 percent less than the average female, yet many men and women still consider the underweight body type to be normal and healthy.

MOST WOMEN OLDER THAN 25 WEAR A SIZE 12 or LARGER! Chronic diseases and health concerns can have an effect on a woman's body image. Pregnancy and menopause, "NATURAL LIFE EVENTS" women experience can also effect body image.

Developing and nurturing a positive body image and a health MENTAL attitude is crucial to our happiness and wellness, as we move through the different stages of our lives. Women tend to have more ANXIETY about their self-image than do MEN.

As we try to maintain good health, it is important to CONCENTRATE on our entire total being--our mental, spiritual and physical health. We must also concentrate on our BODY IMAGE and self CONFIDENCE. IF your BODY IMAGE IS POOR (according to whose standards i might ASK) because you are UNHEALTHY or OUT OF SHAPE you can change it...starting today!!!"

New Fave Raves
by jennifer (jenn_xx)
at November 17th, 2005 (12:44 am)

I've been out scoping the latest and greatest and I just can't get enough of the hot stuff out there.

items I carry on my person:

*Stila It Gloss in Amazing, $18. I always feel like Audrey Hepburn just after applying this.

*Benefit Bad Gal Lash, $18
(The wand is comparable to Dior Show, but the product doesn't flake)

*Zirh Restore Herbal Under Eye Cream, $24. It's light and has a nice scent. I'm getting old and I can't afford not to take care of my delicate eye area.

*Becca Glossy Lip Tint in Flirtini. It's a groovy lavendar shade. Becca is a great line for the sisters out there. It has foundations, concealers, powders, stick foundations, and cream blushes for women of colour that match several women of colour. My point is if you can't find a shade, Becca may have it for you.

*Bourjois (same house as Chanel) Effet 3D Brilliant Lipgloss, #6 Mauve Oceanic, around $15.

*Sephora's new Lemon Drop Body Lotion, part of set of 3 for $25. Other flavors are Cosmopolitan and Minty Mohito. That's What I'm TALKING ABOUT!!

*Allison Rafaelle Soft Shadow in Amethyst, $16ish. Allison used to work under the divine Miss Bobbi Brown.

Okay, I don't always carry this much makeup, but I just happen to have it in my bag.

lip service

current song: Mos Def/Ghetto Rock

My favorite new gloss is the latest installment of Sephora's Piiink! line. Yes with three i's. Lest one may get it confused with Victoria Secret's line of so-pink-their nauseating everything Pink panties, tees, etc. (which also has a fragrance and Lotion).

But back to the gloss. You have to say it in a high-pitched voice and e-nunnn-see-ate the ii's. Piiink!!

This little gloss is only seven dollars. Hardly a purchase to contemplate. I can understand if you're buying Lipfusion's Plumping Gloss for $38, but at $7, it is a purchase that is DONE.

Now there are five delicious flavours and they are Fig, Apricot, Vanilla, Coconut and Bayberry. I prefer Fig, although it does have sparkles. I believe I should be over wearing sparkle gloss at my ripe old age of 30. But upon recondering it, I say "Why Not?" I can be fancy. In fact I think I'll be wearing sparkly lip gloss when I'm 63.

what oil shortage?
by jennifer (jenn_xx)
at November 7th, 2005 (11:39 pm)

Sometimes you need to take time to smell the coffee. Or roses. Or even essential peppermint oils. By going to a natural health food store, I discovered the wonderful world of supplements, oils, and potions that are natural and good for you.

I'm not vegan but I can go to a natural food store and spend an hour in there discovering all of the amazing lines. I started buying organic peanut butter. It tastes good but you have to stir it up. As a child who grew up in a house of nothing organic (read: Alphabits for breakfast, Macaroni and Cheese for lunch), it is now in my early thirties that I am just beginning to realize the positive aspects of shopping organic. I love sugar, caffeine and grease, I'm an American. So I used to run the other direction from the "organic aisle" for fear of my taste buds slipping into a coma.

But I started meeting more groovy people like Jen the Latino Center Director, and Nancy the Massage Therapist and realized that these people who strive to help others in life also know a thing or two about taking care of themselves.

A Silent Trend Among those in-the-Know
Once I was in a taxi and three out of four of us were carrying peppermint oil on our persons. I had bought mine at Life Grocery in Marietta (http://www.lifegrocery.com). I chose Auracacia Pure Aromatherapy (http://www.auracacia.com). It was inexpensive and the packaging was pleasing to the eye.

Taken directly from Auracacia's site:

"The primary constituent of peppermint oil is menthol, which causes a physical reaction when inhaled or applied to the skin. Menthol produces an immediate and pronounced sensation of coolness which the body reacts to quite strongly, producing its own "warming effect" as blood flows into the area of application. This physical sensation impresses the senses as a "medicinal" effect and is partially responsible for peppermint's long history of use as medicine. Today menthol is often found in sports creams and chest rubs."
---

I started huffing it when I got stressed out at a job and I would dilute it and put it at the base of my neck (the atlas). If you don't dilute it, you get burned and it stings for a while. As a matter of fact, I put some on now and it's like a subtle reminder that helps cancel away the stresses of the day. So the next time you can't stop thinking about what an idiot you made of yourself in front of that handsome hottie, just dab on some oil and let it go. As they say in some hindu chants, "Let Go and Let God."

The most exciting thing is that there are so many other wonderful oils to try like Rose Absolute, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang and Neroli. Maybe I'll start my own oil library.

Angelica Archangelica sounds like a cool new band, but it's really a nap in a bottle.
Check out Skyn Iceland's Anti-Stress Oral Spray with you-guessed-it, Angelica Archangelica. Spray three squirts of the sweet-tasting goodness under your tongue and in minutes you will feel your mood completely altered. It says it's like taking a nap without lying down. Give me some of that pronto for $25, you can't go wrong. http://www.skyniceland.com

hey all!

It's been four years since Glamgirl has been on the WEB. You last read her on http://www.teenpeople.com. Since then I moved from New York to Iowa to Atlanta. Life can take you on an amazing journey. That's all I have to say.

I love living in Atlanta and am currently a makeup artist.I'm now blending my knowledge I gained as a beauty editor and putting it to use on customers who come into the store. I do makeup consultations with Bare Escentuals http://www.bareescentuals.com, and a whole host of other makeup lines.

I just tried out the go smile tooth whitening system ($89). http://www.sephora.com. B1 is the name of whitest shade your teeth are possible to obtain. You use these hip little vials containing the special B1 ingredient and paint them onto your teeth. It's very handy to use B1 because it's portable. I did my B1 treatments in the car (at stoplights), walking through the mall, and also the best place, in front of my bathroom mirror. You do two each day for a week. Or go to http://www.gosmile.com.

You can also pick up the two corresponding toothpastes, the a.m. and the p.m. The a.m. is citrusy to wake you up, and the p.m. has hints of lavendar to relax you before you head off to dreamland.

They also have the gosmile daily which is used to maintain the whiteness you receive through the B1 kit. You only have to use the B1 kit twice a year to get the whitest teeth ever. B1 is better than most whitening systems because it does not harm your teeth or gums like other whiteners. No tender gums with this kit.

I also found it most intereresting that cutie Josh from The Apprentice http://www.nbc.com/The_Apprentice_4/ worked for GoSmile.

Stay tuned for my next product review. Revel in the fall weather and get outside but remember to protect your baby soft skin by slapping on some Aveda Daily Light Guard SPF 15 first. http://www.aveda.com
